Roughly how much paint and primer would a fellow need to paint the cab, front fenders and grille? Thinking 1-2 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of paint or?...

Gearing up for a quick and dirty paint job on a 1954 3600 cab with 6400 front fenders/grille (so basically its a 6400). Im just doing exterior surfaces, so no inner fenders, inner doors, cab interior, etc.

Havent decided on a paint brand yet (open to suggestions) but looking at just a simple single stage probably.

You'll probably need just under a gallon each of primer and base. Especially if you are doing the jambs.

Look in to Tamco Paint. Good prices, shipped to your door, EXCELLENT customer service. I'm about to finish up my '98 Crew Cab Dually, Tamco ground up.

Just remember that if the paint calls for reducer and activator, you will be getting more sprayable paint after mixed.

I used probably about 3/4 of a gallon on single stage acrylic urethane on the cab with doors, fenders, hood, and grill. SummitRacing brand paint and worked out very well.

On my ‘58 Apache, I used a little less than a gallon for the cab. I’m using Tamco single stage urethane and I’m happy with it.
