I think I was told I don't use a proportioning valve on my new power brake conversion. I bought the firewall mounted power booster and corvette type master cylinder with 4 outlets. Do I run each outlet to a different wheel with out a proportioning valve?? What is the safe way to "plumb" this one ton panel? Thanks as always, steve.

As far as I know the 4 outlets are for selecting which side of the cyl. you want to run the lines to. Disc brakes always need a porportioning valve.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

I don't know if this will happen to you but it did happen to me. Other stovebolters might jump in and tell you everything is OK as they use the same setup. Hope so! I put a 'vette master cylinder with power booster on my ride. I couldn't stop it in the old country mile. Darn near hit a car going into a show. Problem was the 'vette master cylinder is made for disc brakes and uses I believe a 1-1/8" piston. This is due to the difference between the way disc and drum brakes work. I checked the pressure at the drums and could get only around 900 to 1000 psi. Tried everything, new shoes, drums turned and such. Then I researched it as no one seemed to know what to do. Found that a 7/8" piston master cylinder that was made for drum brakes AND a booster worked. Just a few years were made like this, the way the booster socket for rod fits up. Get 1200+ psi now and I don't sweat stopping.

Sorry. I need to add that I use a 8" Mustang booster as my setup is under the floor boards. If you use one of those huge boosters on the fire wall I would think it will work better. Thanks

I had an old 1966 Jeep wagoneer that had drum brakes and a power set up (is that called a hydra vac) that was up on the fender in the engine compartment and just plumbed into the brake line from the master cylinder and a vacumm line to the manifold.
As far as I could see (and as well as I remember !) it was like an 'add on' to the standard setup.
Didn't the newer AD big trucks have a similiar set up that was on the frame under the deck?

Did you keep stock drums all the way round? If so, I'd like to know the answer to this myself for future reference. Meahwhile, you coulda installed a hydrovac. And I coulda had a V8!
