My older brother is so impressed with my mildly modified Chevy AD truck, he wants one of his own!

My question is, where would be the best show during 2007 -anywhere in the States- for us to visit to buy a Art Deco or AD truck -he'd consider an F1 as well but I'll try and keep him on the straight and narrow! I bought my 3100 at the Hershey AACA fall meet two years ago, but having been back in 2006, there aren't many trucks there for sale.

He'll be looking for something made before 1950 (later trucks get hammered with 37% import duty on entry to the UK) with a V8 motor, but not really radically rodded, as that can cause problems getting the vehicle registered for road use here.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Stuart.

Maybe try Barrett Jackson auction in Miami or Scottsdale - if you are there early in the week there are some pretty nice rods and trucks that sell for less than what it would cost to build from scratch.

I would try the Pomona, California Fairplex Swap Meets. Some of my friends here in the Midwest have brought back some pretty nice stuff for a reasonable amount of money.

www.traderonline is a good websight for finding vehicles. I believe I would locate something before I came that far. These are pretty rare.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Stuart,

You should also consider Australia mate. You'd have the added advantage of the truck being RHD. Let me know if you need any more info.

Strictly looking for a show, the Food Lion Auto Fair at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC has a LOT of cars, trucks and hotrods for sale. It's held twice a year, once in spring, once in the fall. It's also got a killer swap meet.

Thanks very much for all the useful replies, the Pomona and Charlotte shows both look really interesting, There seem to be a lot of shows at Pomona through the year, do they all have the same stuff? the ideal would be a show where there would be a selection of trucks and a big swap meet too - I bought back over 100 kilos of new (& old & rusty!) toys for my truck from our trip to Carlisle & Hershey in Oct 2006.

Thanks again, Stuart.

A man we built a 49 for passed away and his car/truck collection is being sold to settle the estate. They have it listed at $22k which is less than we charged to build it and it should be available by March or so. You might check the pictures because you said too many modifications are not acceptable under UK regs. Do they go by outside looks or check everything? The outside just has the filled hood and different tire/wheel combo but the drivline and interior have alot of modernization. You can look at some pics at http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d41/coilover/
Scroll to the bottom of page 1 and click "view all" and it will be the last 4 or 5 pictures of the orange colored truck. If interested I can send you details. Good luck in your search.

If your looking for a hot rod truck, The Streetrod Nationals draws 11,000 plus streetrods and is full of AD trucks for sale. It's in Louisville, Kentucky the first week of August. I would bet there's 500 plus AD trucks there for sell.
