My shop is busting at the seams with tools. My 28 year old son is an ASE mechanic. He’s been furloughed because of Covid and doesn’t have a job to go back to. He’s pretty sure he wants to change careers. He’s a good mechanic but the choice is his.

So ALL of his professional tools and tool boxes have ended up in my shop. REALLY NICE STUFF. Snap-On. MAC. OTC. Every tool you could imagine.

He said he didn’t want to sell any of it. His place is small.
Now I need to reorganize all the tools and move the duplicates or sell them.

I honestly was very content with what I have. I have Craftsman, NAPA, and HF tools plus a few odd pieces collected here and there. I know where everything is ( or at least I did know ). Now everything is a mess. He doesn’t want me to rearrange his stuff, but some of it will get put on the shelf. Does anyone know what METRIC stuff is for? I guess I’ll learn, but I liked the way things were.

I never sell tools!
I may give some away to some deserving young person!
But never sell them.

I sell tools at swap meets (remember when there were swap meets. the good old days), for next to nothing.

Pat66,
That’s just it, I need to sort, label, pack and store my stuff. One day my son will likely move to a bigger place and want his stuff back.
I’ll say this, I’m getting creative as to how my stuff is organized.
I’ll likely need to sell a few tool boxes.

Most reading this will wonder why I’m complaining. It’s not so much a complaint about having new and nicer tools to use, but rather that I’ve had to put all my projects on hold until I make room so I can work.
Right now I’m walking around the shop squeezing between stuff. No floor space to walk so I tiptoe like a ballerina.

Mark,

I'll gladly store that toolbox here in my garage in Colorado when you retire.
