Can't get in there to take a pic...
The control valve/damper fits in behind the firewall under the antenna mount. There is a nylon bushing that sits in the front side of the cab. The damper just reached the hole but will not stay inserted. The rest of the assembly to the vacuum actuator is together and there is no play in it that would allow the damper to seat into the bushing.
I have searched for diagrams, pics, part number for the bushing to make sure it is all there. Don't know...It is about the size of a quarter, semi round with slightly squared off sides. Flat faced and does not look like anything is broken off.
Anyone have an idea of what the problem is? Would really like to get this together so antenna, wipers, and related back together.
Thanks!
Mike

The damper piece, is from LMC and matches to original in dimensions. Assembled as it was and per LMC' s parts diagram..The larger firewall side slides into a tube and is fastened by a hex screw threw the tube and rod. There is a 90 degree bend at the other end that slides in the vacuum controller
I could do a hack and open up the bushing a bit and epoxy a short brass tube to it to receive the damper spring rod but it is not my first choice.

What's the possibility that the housing is bulged a little and won't let the damper fit as it was originally intended? A little bit of massaging with a dead blow hammer might be an option, or how about getting a piece of solid Teflon rod and making a thicker bushing?

Actually Jerry, you read my mind. Everything else was perfect..for 50 years old. Got the Teflon, razor saw, and Dremmel went to work and just like majic, good as new.
