Hey everyone,

Was out cleaning up the truck this afternoon. Took off the thermostat housing and saw that there's a significant gap from the water pump to the engine block. This doesn't seem right to me. Am I being paranoid, maybe the gasket just rotted out? I'm new to the 216 engine, and I wanted to make sure this wasn't a sign of a more serious problem.

All is normal, you have a normal high mount pump for a pre 55.2 6 cylinder.

Huh, I didn't even think to check that! Making a note of that for when I give this engine a good go-over. Thanks for catching that!

The area circled has a countersunk bolt that comes in from the rear.
All is good!
