Hello again,

It is proving to be a bit of a challenge to find original part numbers for some of the original components...

I am trying to confirm that the following information is correct for this truck... I am also interested in period aftermarket options, if they can be found...

1- Electrolock, or Ignition switch with protective casing and coil cover/cap...

GM 1116278 or GM 1116263?

DELCO REMY E-5895

2- Ignition Coil, single wire...

GM 1915427

DELCO REMY 536-D?

Additional Components:

1- Coil cover/Cap...

GM...?

DELCO REMY 1863090

2- Ignition switch mounting Bezel. Not quite sure how it mounts, since the outside of the barrel is not threaded...

GM...?

DELCO REMY...?

Pictured, please see the DELCO REMY E-5895...

Phillip,
Not sure if this will help you but it is information I collected while restoring my 1946 (216) PU.

Philipj,

Check out this electrolock grommet I just made for my '36 Chevy pickup:

The electrolock you're seeking is rare and expensive but they do show up rarely on Ebay. The 6 volt coils show up NOS on Ebay fairly often for $75.

Here's what an original 1933-40 coil looks like.

Hello Harold,

Thank you for posting the photos of your electrolock for your 46... Were there any other numbers on the casting? The bezel on the lock is identical to my other 39, but I cannot find a part number for it anywhere, and have not been able to figure out how it is set, and I can't chance messing with it since I don't have a spare... If I only could see the bezel by itself I would figure it out...

The armored cable is also the same as my original but different than the Delco E-5895 I posted previously... As for your coil, I also have GM 1910405 for part number, which I imagine is the same as Delco 1115141... And Ray, as for the 1915427 coil, thank you for posting the photos, always very useful to have for reference... The correct grommet is also a nice touch. Very nice to have the right tools/set up to be able to make it...

Phillip,
This may be of use to you. It looks like the cap in your photo.

Hello Harold,

That is very useful, thank you... Do you have anything on the lock end and how to remove the special style bezel?

The ignition lock cylinder goes in that hole at the end. The bezel can be loosened and tightened with a spanner wrench. The picture shows what I use for this purpose with the tip going into the small hole along the edge of the bezel.

I have a grommet like that one but it is for a 1" hole in the firewall of a 60's something GM, likely a 62 pickup. I looked around a bit on the net but did not find an actual application. I believe they were very common in the 60's for speedometer cables. I know I have seen them on many occasions.

Hello Lightholder's Dad,

Where did you get the special spanner for the lock?

It was in a pile of tools given to me. Google spanner wrenches and you will find a bunch of choices much nicer than mine. From my picture you can see it is made out of thin metal; you could easily make one for yourself with a grinder and a file.

Does anyone know if the reproduction electrolocks once available from Tim Tygart's are being sold any place else? Thank you.
