im trying to figure out what to do about a steering column in my 1/2 ton 55 chevy 2nd series. id like something tilt. im not sure on the shifter, im going to be running a 350 with a turbo 400, so i guess i could go either way (column or floor shifter). if anyone has ideas for a donor car, or any tips i would appreciate it. looking to do this on the cheap, trying to keep to a budget. thanks.

The gear & shaft are one piece. You will have to cut the shaft & install a rag joint or U-joint. The best column to get is a 67-72 tilt, or one from a van up to about the late70,s early 80,s. They have the indicator on top of the column & the ign switch in the dash.
