Hi, i,m a newbie here.My son and I are just starting to work on a 1970 3/4 pickup with 8 lug wheels. What I'd like to find out is what we can change on the front end ( and with what?) to get the truck in the weeds. I know that there is aftermart stuff out there, but we'd like to start with a 1/2 ton setup. We have built street rods (cars) before, this will be our first truck. I have tried to do a search here ,but could'nt come up with anything for our year truck. THANKS Joe K

I would recommend going with a disc brake with drop spindle kit. upgrade to 73-87 balljoints and tie rods. then throw in drop springs while youre at it. check out http://www.earlyclassic.com/tech.aspx?category=Stance%20Photos-2

for stance photos but look around for cheaper kits. not sure about rear suspension on c20s but whether leaf or coil there are many easy options to lower it.

Thanks for the quick reply,We're planing on using dropped spindles, but I don't quite follow what you're saying. Can we only change the ball joints and tie rods and then be able to install 1/2 ton dropped spindles or do we have to change the A arms also. Thanks Joe K

You can get a dropped spindle kit.
Contact Speedway, they might have something.

There actually is a kit to swap half ton spindles and disk brakes on a 3/4-ton. I saw it written up in one of the truck magazines sometime in the last couple of years.

I would expect you would just swap the complete crossmember with disks from a '72 to '87 1/2-ton and you might even find one that already has the dropped spindles.

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...

Classic Performance Products now makes a spindle (drop or standard)for 3/4 ton trucks. It's availible with a 5 or 6 lug pattern. I have a 1963 C20 and have been researching ways to drop it and convert to discs. This seems like the simplest and economical way to git'r done
