I used the whole front suspension from an '85 when I did mine. I had to drill two holes in the frame and that was it. Everything else bolted up.

Did the truck sit a the same height from the ground ? The older axle is like a drop type axle I’m not sure but I thought the newer axle is more of a straight axle

Mine sat higher after the install, but that was because I used a 1 ton crossmember with motorhome front coils that are overkill. If I had used a c10 or c20 crossmember, it probably would've sat closer to stock.

There are some easier options with replacing the upper and lower balljoints which allows you to use a later spindle which comes with factory disc brakes. I didn't go that route because I had a free crossmember to try out.

I think we are talking apples and banana's here.. Within 29tons comment, he made mention of a "axle" that appeared to be dropped.
I know that the '63-66 C-10,20 Had the independent coil spring front suspension, however I don't know if the '63 C30 had coil springs like the '64 and later.
I have used the later model disk brake front suspension under '64, 66 C-10,20 trucks with no issues, a direct swap, 16 bolts, two of which have to be elongated.
Not only do you get disk brakes, you also get power steering with a factory type application. Wm.

Is the C30 frontend different than a C10,20? Tons of aftermarket kits available.
