Hello, I’m trying to get a oil filter for the canister. But I’m having trouble because I can’t identify the canister I have. It’s 4 3/8 wide the center tube 9/16 x 5 5/8 long.any help would be appreciated

As usual we need more info. Year, series, engine and a photo of the filter showing any decals would be very helpful.🛠

It’s a 1947 3100 with a 235 from 1955 2. the canister I have has no decals

Can you tell me the size of the gasket that comes with the Fram c4. I’ve tried the Napa 1076, 1100 and a P115 and they all came with a gasket that was too big. This canister top O.D. is 4.72”

If it turns out you have an AC S-6 Canister, you will need Oil Filter Cartridge Wix51100.

This may help you ID your canister.

Oil Filters

On my canister it says use krawlinater 55 I used to use the krawlinater k 55a they are the same as a c4 the krawlinater had a variety of gaskets in the box but Fram only gives you one and no gasket for the top bolt.

I have a 55.2 3100 truck with a 235. I use a Wix 51100 filter. The gasket is about 5 1/8" OD. and 4 3/8" ID.

Google WIX 15017 and check dimensions. Outer diameter is 4.736"

A photo of the top of the lid would tell if it is a Fram or AC.

The wix 51100 cross reference to Napa 1100 and the fram c4 as well as the k55a krawlinater and probably many more the filters are getting more expensive lately. I was lucky to find the Fram in stock at Canadian tire for 8 bucks each so I purchased all they had but I liked the krawlinater filter as they had better gaskets a rubber ring gasket and fiber gasket for the top bolt

Just measured one of my wix 51100 filters

OD: 4-1/16"
Height: 5" (which includes the raised center bumps)
Hole opening: 5/8"

FWIW I use the Wix 51006 in my Fram canisters. Size is 4 1/8x5 tall.

Thanks guys. It’s kinda crazy because I’ve tried the Napa 1100, it fit in the canister but the gasket was too large. I’ll look for a Krawlinater k55a since the picture Kevinski posted looks to be the correct gasket and you get different size gaskets. The others, Wix 51006, Wix 15017 may also work if the center hole is about 9/16.

Ive googled Krawlinater and nothing comes up. The wix 51006 is the one I can find at orileys. Seems to be correct size. I’ll go check them out in the morning since everything is closing early now. Fram C3 is too small. Thanks a ton guys
