Hi, all. I hope everyone is safe and 'vid free. I know I'm suppose to use the Swap Meet for an enquiry such as this but with the dollar being so low combined with not being able to get into Washington to pick up parts, I was hoping I could post here and find something locally (or at least in Canada). I'm looking for the rear cover and U joint assembly so I can mate an SM420 to a torque tube. The transmission had a drive shaft brake on it which I understand was used on the big trucks with an open drive shaft. I'll be putting the transmission into a '47 1/2 ton with a newer torque tube rear end (one with Bendix brakes - I'm not sure what year the Bendix started on the torque tubes.) Thank you very much.

I have been watching your post. I have an orphaned sm420 with a broken trans brake. I am saving the case and gears in case I need for an upcoming rebuild. I suspect it has some end cover that i do not need. I will see if it is something maybe compatible with your situation.
For the moderator - not buying or selling here, just looking into my spare locker.

Hy Rusty Shackleford, I know I have at least some of that stuff here somewhere, unfortunately I am in isolation until Monday 13th of April.

Hambone, the parts he's looking for are unique to the early 1950's pickups with the torque tube rear end. I believe your transmission is from a later model open driveline type.

I had one of those 50 SM420s in my shed. Thought it was time to look at the back plate and see if the yoke was there. As it turns out I did not have to bits and pieces needed, but I did get a good look at the gears that I had hoped to bring to HC for more eyes and hands-on.
