Is there by any chance a list of what motors were used in what years either here or elsewhere??
Reason for asking is it would make searching for a specific engine for the project when the time comes.

I have Motor's Manuals that run from 1929-1972 plus maybe half a dozen Chilton's. The Motor's have a head on shot of each year for identification and specs for everything from size, bore and stroke, horsepower/torque, electrical, trans/rear end, fluid capacities, pretty much anything one could want. Also a list of engines for each year and for each model. I do not know if Motor's is available online or if they are still in business but I do see them listed on ebay often.

What make, year, nationality engines/motors, DaveMcK38?

I'm resto modding a 38 1/2 ton. My thoughts so far is to go with probably a 250 from before they started with intake as part of the head deal. Just thought if there was a list of what vehicles different engines went in over the years it would make it easier when I start roaming the bone yards. I've found over the years that some yard folks are more noligable and helpful than others. Then some hardly would give you the time of day.

Dave, is your '38 a Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Ford?

Sorry, it's a Chevy. I guess I just assumed everybody would figure what I was working on considering this is a site for GM trucks.

It is a good habit to start the first post in a new thread with the make, year, and model vehicle.
There are differences between USA Chevrolet trucks and Canada Chevrolet trucks and GMCs.

GM is not often useful as a truck type/make. There are many differences between GMC trucks and Chevrolet trucks.

Members above asked identifications questions so that replies would be correct and useful for you.

Understand, but again being that the site is dedicated to "Chevrolet" and "GMC" trucks I figured with the wealth of expertise here that someone would probably have an easy link at there finger tips of a generic list of GM inline 6 usage.
