Do I need some sort of adapter on the rear of the transmission? The transmission has 10 spline shaft and the torque tube has 17 spline shaft. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 270 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 270 | I am not familiar with the 4 speed you have so this is my best guess. The only 4 speed that I know of that is available with an adapter for a torque tube is an SM420. This transmission is about two inches longer then the original 1946 transmissions, and would require shortening the torque tube or moving the engine. Not a good option. The usual approach is to use an open drive shaft. This would require using an open drive shaft differential pumpkin from a 54-62 half ton. | | |
