Has anyone mounted a master cylinder w/booster under the floor on a 1946 chev p/u? I have not found any sites that sell an assembly made to work on the 41-46 chev p/u's.

How well equipped is your shop or do you have access to equipment you will need? If you do you can modify units that are available. The trickiest part is to get the right geometry on the pedal shaft to where it works through the toeboard hole without binding. Making a frame mount bracket is no problem. On a 46 where the whole toeboard is removable you could disregard the existing hole, make a temperary cardboard one with a hole in the right place and then transfer that to the real one and just patch the old hole. On a 30 Plymouth where there was absolutely no room left over after an automatic trans was installed we ran a rod from the original clevis pin hole on the pedal shaft to a remote booster/MC mounted just in front of the left rear axle tube--a distance of about 4 ft. Works fine.

www.classiccheveroletparts.com does list a brake booster for the art deco series trucks. I don't think the new master cylinder has provisions for the clutch linkage. So if you are keeping the stock transmission I don't think the mc will work for you. You could always contact them and ask.

I installed a 350 smallblock w/350 turbo behind it, and it just looks tight. I just thought it was odd that I couldn't find an assy to fit right in there. I didn't know if anyone had used one of the universal frame mount brkts, and how hard it was to make it work. Thanks,

On the no-buck 46 suburban, I am using the master cylinder and booster out of the dodge diplomat parts car, along with a leftover brake bedal for a street rod. Throw it in a sack with some steel plate, shake it up, and presto, nothing up my sleeve. (I think I need a different hat)
