I am in the process of restoring a 1946 chevy pickup my dad had. I have discovered that the truck has a 1947 bed and rear fenders. This is likely why the existing running boards have been spliced and the front does not match the rear ribs. Can running boards for a 1947 be made to fit this truck.

I had a question about running boards about a week ago. One of the bolters answered me right away. He knows his boards. it was tclederman.

Maybe someone will respond who has used/adapted the later running board?

This sounds like it will need to be fabbed. Since both ends of the running boards bolt to the fenders, and the fenders are different from 46 to 47, (and as you discovered the rib count is different), you'll have the make something work.
If you're going to keep the 47 rear fenders, maybe you can just clean up the splice. If you go with rear 41-46 rear fenders, maybe you can find the rear part of that year boards and splice them in.
