I am planning to use the same model on my truck.
However I want to mount the box in the truck under the dash so as to make the engine compartment look cleaner.
Does the unit make much noise?
Would you do anything different?

Different? I should have done it sooner.
Only "complaint" is a trifle - the speed drops ~3 mph when you first engage it before it takes over, e.g., set it at 60 and your speed drops to 57 before it kicks in and brings you back to 60. Just pull out the throttle knob at the desired speed. Not perfect, but trouble shooting was pretty EZ. I didn't have a problem with noise inside the cab... They are frequently on sale for less than $100. I have installed them on my 57 and 58 with the servo under the dash and the noise was never a bother.

Yes I know about the throttle knob "cruse contorl" on the dash, but it's just not the same as the real thing. On any vehicle I've bought brand, color, transmission, radio, wheels, etc., etc., don't mean squat but, if it's going to be a long distance driver it's got to have windshield washers and cruise control. A-C and all the "exersise my fingertip" options are nice but a dirty w/s is dangerous and non cruise is a pain (literally) for old joints.
