My primary radiator is almost 7" thick with the 3300 CFM electric fan. After my crank snout I have 7 3/4". That is my custom SFI damper with serpentine pulley, crank trigger, 3" blower pulley and 1" oil pump pulley. Because of the leverage on the crank I am running a big block timing cover seal. I have a Crower billet crank. I also have to deal with the 6 intakes on drivers side and 6 headers on passenger side that will be in the firewall. Iv'e done a lot of measuring And I think I can get the radiator forward about 6". I'm looking at moving the engine back about 8". I may move the pedals over a little. I have a Tremec TKO 600 trans and ordered it with the mid shift kit. This puts my shifter about 3" in front of the seat. A dog leg shifter and I should be fine. Might have to get a little creative under the dash but probably not. good news is it's skinney. I like the idea of weight being moved to the rear. NHRA does not permit the moving of the engine rearward for weight distribution but does allow it for fitment. My point of view is get it where you can and make the truck fit around it. When I was shopping for my new house, I told the agent that a large garage or room to build one was more important than the house. I ended up with a garage that has twice the square footage of my house. It's great but I'd still like a larger garage. It does keep me from buying more vehicles, though.

When I was dirt track racing the rule of thumb was "Build it three times as strong as you think it needs to be- - - -and try not to be too surprised if it breaks!" The same rule probably applies to shop square footage.
