So I have some old gas in the tank. Been there at least 5 years. I have some ideas of what I am going to do with it but would like to know what the rest of you do with old gas. Or if you do anything?

Thanks
Brian

If it was me
I would filter it into a container and it would be used for cleaning parts.
Also if it’s clean enough I would add it to a nearly full tank about a gallon at a time.
Also my Tractor would burn it no problem
Recyclers is also a good option but less convenient.
I’m not sure why folks r so afraid of old gas
I have never had a problem with smelly old gas in any of my vehicles
If everything is in good working order starting a machine on old gas seems to work for me just fine. But in Canada we have ethanol in the gas and that also seems to make it work better when aged compared to the original no ethanol blend. That ethanol is a free water scavenger I don’t get any water accumulating in my sediment bowls anymore which is nice.

Don't do that with a recently purchased small Toro mower. It will void the warranty.

I use it to clean parts.
Ethanol free gas will last a lot longer than the 10% ethanol blend.
To me, it is not worth the risk of gumming up a carb with varnish.

Just my .2% thoughts.

I use it to get my brush pile burning, I wait 'till there is snow on the ground to burn brush and a little "starting fluid" helps.

I ran it thru a gas filter and mixed it in the truck I use daily. I mix it less then 1 part to 10 and I never noticed any difference in the way it runs. I have also mixed it in the gas I use in my yard tractor with no issues.

I also use nothing but ethanol free gas in everything but my daily driver. I’ve cleaned too many carbs that the ethanol gummed up.

I used antique gas in my 345 IHC, bent some pushrods when valves froze up, so be careful.

Shhhh Glen!
Don't let that secret out!
Who needs a weed trimmer if you have a pump up weed killer.

And, Diesel fuel to seal a wood trailer bed.

Have any farmer friends? Works great to start a brush-pile fire.

Jon.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.

Whatever you do, don't dig a hole in the ground with a backhoe and dump a couple hundred gallons in it, and light it off. Not only will your neighbors complain of the sudden blackout of the sun, but so will most of the remaining residents of the county in which you live.

My problem sometimes was (is) old 2-stroke outboard gas. About 50 years ago, my brother-in-law took 5 gallons of old gas and used it in his Olds. That's when the gas:oil ratio was 25:1. He said the Olds burned oil anyway so more wouldn't hurt.

Awards go to practical solutions.....

Wash parts....

then recycle as weed killer.....a lot safer than 2.4.D or Round up....

Light up brush.....

mixed with rear end oil, engine oil, auto fluid, paint gun wash, will makes good water proofing for wood exposed to the weather or parts trucks that you store outside and anything left burns nicely dripped in the shop wood furnace....

Waste not want not

Now I will have to delete my home address...... guess I will just move the trailer....

When I emptied the old gas out of the tank of my truck when I got it, I hoped it only had a couple gallons in it, but no it had like 12 gallons in it. I only had two 5 gallon cans, so it took me 2 trips to get rid of it. I had to take it about 6 miles across town to a shop that disposes of it by dumping it into their waste oil tank. The fee was only about $5, and I didn't have to deal with the stinky old gas that wouldn't burn anyway.

Probably nothing living in the ground water either. Sounds like more of a problem than a solution.
