I'm trying to figure out how to mount my rear shocks. I've seen a post that has pictures of the upper mount and have a set of those ready to go.

Can somone post some pics or give me some ideas on how and where to place the lower mount?

Right now I have the rear axle and leaf springs (no lower shock mounts).

I assume you are going to hang the upper part of the shocks on the frame. If so, I would use a regular shock mounting plate with the ear for the shock under the springs and tie the shock to the ear. The plate I'm talking about is like the ones used on the AD trucks. The shock I would use would have an eye at both ends to bolt it to the frame and to the ear on the plate.

There is also universal shock mount plates you can get at any parts store that welds onto the rear axle for mounting the lower part of the shock. Bob T

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably try the mounts that weld to the axle. I'm not sure where to get the ones 6cylinder mentioned. Maybe AutoZone will have some mounts. Now if I can only figure out where I want to mount my gas filler tube.

Before you invest in a kit that may or may not fit your needs...be advised that your local trailer repair shop sells perches, u-bolts and mounting plates at a greatly reduced price. I purchased the entire setup to perch and secure a camaro diff for $20. That way you can add an ear for your shock mount where ever you need it. I've found that the generic kits are just that....generic, and usually wind up hanging on the wall. Just my $.02.....gained from....

I've contacted the two trailer shops that are local to me and they dont sell em.

37 If you have leaf spring and cheap like me you can go to a local pick u parts and find lower mounting plates with integral shock mount bolts already on them. For 10 bucks you"re in business.
