So I got some other questions about some glove box codes in the donor truck... Mainly I'm trying to figure out what tranny is in the donor cuz it has a 5 speed "spicer I think" but not sure which ratios it has cuz I'd love to have it if it has the highway .80:1 ratio in fifth.... But there are other spicers that just have 1:1 ratio and my fourth gear is that so it wouldn't make it worth grabbing.

any glovebox codes decoders out there? The code that has to do with the trany is "sp3152F" the option number is "M78LB"...

And the other thing I'm gonna get is the hydraulic steering cylinder, lines, assisted steering knuckle, and already have a power steering gearbox from another c50 truck with the resivoir attached. So eventually when I get it all installed I'll be driving 5-8mph faster top end speed, I'll be able to back a trailer up without the workout, and I think this rear has wider brakes so maybe even stop better two!!!

Hy DIY.MechanicMike, a quick Google search for "Spicer transmission 3152F ratios" turned up lists and that particular transmission appears to be direct drive in fifth gear, sorry about that

Spicer 540 series OD trans. are somewhat rare, however to make OD, they take 3rd. gear so there is a big gap in ratios where 3rd used to be, so with a load, frequently stuck in 2nd because 4th(direct) is too large a jump, better if 2 speed rear, very awkward. Both Warner(IHC and Clark trans. have the same issue. The shift location for OD is right and toward panel.

yeah I ended up doing some googling as well and found same thing. Very unfortunate cuz I could have got it for 150 and now it will probably end up in China all smashed up lol recycling centers waist so much good stuff to get a quick buck it's unreal!!! But I am gonna get the power steering cylinder and the assisted steering knuckle before they junk it. And it has a hood that's in better shape then mine, That I might get and a door handle... Are the door handles on the 67-72 trucks easy to remove or is the thumb thing easy to replace cuz I'm missing mine on both sides but can stick my finger in there and push it to open door but you know the finger getting pinched every 6 or so openings sucks so I might fix that.

Spicer 5 speeds are good trans, worth keeping in case can get a higher rear ratio or trade/sell stock. Having one vs. a 4 speed is a real advantage, go up to 50 or so, then shift to 5th.

That 5 speed is on the donor truck at salvage yard. I personally know it's worth keeping but it's not worth me buying and having to make room to hoard it at my house lol cuz it would only come in handy to me if my current trans went out. And I don't see my 4 speed giving up anytime soon. Or if I had a buyer for it right now I'd go take it off to make a buck but I'd have to charge 400 bucks for it which I'm sure it's still worth that.
