When you adapt the box to your frame, be sure to use plenty of vibration isolation material. Brownies, particularly in OD, have a tendency to be noisy. I used to cut squares of big rig tire sidewall material, and stack up a few layers between the transmission mounting ears and the piece of channel iron we used as a crossmember. Metal-on-metal mounting caused a LOT of noise to be transferred to the frame and cab. Jerry

Ford engine mount biscuits, rubber snow plow blade(4" x 1") work well too, some 'brownies' have no shaft seals, just reverse threads to keep the oil in and trash out. One can also put it in various gear positions and count revs. to get ratios, count teeth when apart.

Ed, I've seen the top tower of a trashed 3 or 4 speed top loader transmission used as a Brownie shifter if the original stick and linkage was not available for some reason. Extending the shift rails and using heim joints made for a smooth-shifting auxiliary stick. Jerry
