I just got off the phone with someone at the PPG Color Library and they were unable to provide any modern color offsets or formulas for the 1954 Pearl Beige Interior Paint. I gave them the numbers mentioned in the Tech Tip, or PPG/DITZLER 21122 and DUPONT 93-72389, and the only thing they could come up with was some kind of red color. I also spoke with one of the people at our local PPG dealer in town and they were unable to help. As mentioned in a previous post on this site, they suggested that I remove the glove box and they could match it up. I believe the person at the PPG Color Library called this a wrap & match. (Please correct me if I misinterpreted him.) Several parts places also offer the Pearl Beige paint, including but probably not limited to Jim Carter, Classic Parts of America and Chevy’s of the 40’s.

Before I do this, was anyone lucky enough to come up with any color offsets or formulas before this information was lost or no longer available from PPG, and has anyone had any luck using the paints purchased from these parts suppliers? I have read some mixed reviews in past posts, especially with the lack of information on mixing ratios, etc.

Since I know they would be there to help if needed, I am leaning towards the local PPG dealer and the wrap & match. I also like supporting our local dealers and suppliers. I know everyone will probably see something a little different, but I posted a few pictures to show what I am working with. I also used a little polish in one area to try to bring out the color.

Thanks

Thanks again sack. Very good information. I will give them a call tomorrow or Monday. I did find it though with your help.1954 Truck Colors

I should have looked at the "Sticky". I was doing a search for "pearl", "beige", and "pearl beige" without much luck. I have been reading the sticky and I now see that this has been a topic of many discussions. At least now when someone, maybe like me, searches for Pearl Beige, they will hit this link, or at least know where to go if it changes.

I appreciate your help.

There is a Paint Colors Tech Tip here.

It has the original paint codes and information that might be useful for a good PPG supplier.

Interior paints have always been a problem/question. I had to get Pulsar Gray formulated for my 1954 Suburban. The local PPG made an excellent match - from a sample under a seat base that had not been in the sun and had not been oxidized.

Thanks Tim, I always appreciate your help. As I stated in my OP, I tried the phone number for the PPG Color Library listed in the Tech Tip and I also checked with our local supplier and they were no help. I posted pictures of my glove box, which is what I will try to use for a match on my truck.

There may be an older PPG Brick & Mortar store out there with some old paper "tangible" not digital records that could help, but I can’t seem to find one. Any modern color offsets that PPG may have had at one time no longer exist. Since you had to get a sample from under you seat base for the Pulsar Gray, PPG may have never had a Pearl Beige color offset. I am excited about giving this TCPGlobal a call though. It appears that they may be able to help.

Thanks again

Thanks sack. It is also listed in the "1954 Truck Colors" link on Page 4. I will be giving them a call on Monday.

I appreciate your help on this.
