The 308 was part of a family of 5 engines that all shared the same stroke crank of 4.50 inches. There was a 278, 308, 318, 329, and 360 cu/in sizes. The 308 had a stock bore of 3.81 inches. The stock crankshaft (diameter of shaft) main journals 2.7490/2.750. The stock cylinder block housing bores for the mains 2.9355/2.9360. The oil clearance from the factory .0010/.0025. Max bearing wall thickness at bearing crown .0923. The main (set) standard part number 920M. Standard undersizes were .10, .20, .30, .60 . Mains # 1 and 7 were 2.063 long. Mains # 2,3,5,6 were 1.188 long. Main # 4 was a semi-finished flanged thrust bearing measuring 2.119/2.133 overall length. The length between the flanges 1.937/1.939 . The max flange outside diameter 3.625 . The rod journals (stock) measured 2.3740/2.3750 diameter. The stock connecting rod (large end) measured 2.5460/2.5465. Standard oil clearance for rod .0005/.0020 .Rod bearing max thickness at crown .0853 . Rod bearing length 1.190 .Rod bearing (set) standard part number 9850 . The stock rod had a center to center length of 9.750 . The rod bearings had standard undersizes of .002, .010, .020, .030, .060 . The material used in the construction of both the mains and rod bearings was a steel backed, copper alloy lined, lead/tin overplate. The factory bearings were made by GM Moraine bearing division. Contacted GM obsolete parts- no longer available. Contacted Federal Mogul Corp.- no longer available. Contacted Clevite Bearing Company, a div of Dana Corp.- no longer available. I do not know if any of the antique/obsolete net sites may be able to help you in your search. But I do know of a few shops that can make these sets for you. Try Sterling Bearing -
