Anyone ever even heard of a pto box that hangs on the end of the intermediate shaft instead of the side cover?

I was surprised to find a gear on the end of the intermdeidate shaft just now!?

That looks like splines rather than gear teeth. Might be something that a dog clutch would engage.

Check it out!
I'm thinking about making a 'gearbox' to stick onto spicer pto...

& maybe even use it to compress some air!

I've got 3 parts that need to be plasma cut (including spline coupler)... the rest are just pipes (with some lathe work) and tidbits from amazon
Can't wait to see if it works!

Someone must know about that coupler, does Spicer show it, perhaps in military hardware. Not hard enough to make, though.

Good idea!
I think maybe a 1-3/8 coupler would work... not sure if it's worth the expense though:

I'll see what the plasma cut guy thinks.

Here's the measurement from the spline itself:

Better make that coupler out of some type of material that can be hardened- - - - -its life span under a load will be measured in minutes otherwise.

I think I saw your post on the Napco forum or Facebook, but I know those ptos exist and I have never seen one. I want one too and I don't even know why. I already have a really good one to go on my transmission to run a front winch.

Hehe! Imagine what you could do with 2 or 3 ptos at once!

Looks like a Koenig PTO unit for a IH Scout or Willy's CJ-5 Jeep...you might need to make a spacer/adapter.

Do a Google search for images...
