We'd like to go to a crate motor V8. Tranny is still open between manual or auto. I don't suppose anyone's made a "check-list" to follow? I understand everything will have to go: engine, tranny, torque tube, rear axle, 6-volt system. What am I missing? We've updated the front to disk brakes already, and aren't looking at changing the entire suspension unless it has to.

You will have clearance issues with the steering and the exhaust. If you use the search feature on this board, you will find numerous discussions addressing this topic. You will have to move the steering box, use ram-horn exhaust manifolds with a passenger-side manifold on the drivers side to help clear the steering, and/or you can shift the motor mounts over to the passenger side to help with the clearance issues.
