Hi Folks,

1954 Chevy 3100, model and serial # not available.

I purchased this truck from a gent who bought it then decided he could not use it in his retail place, so sold it to me. I don't have any idea of key things like when the restoration was done, and what color the truck was painted. I do know that when the truck was sold in the early 90's it was Grey (on the registration), so Pretty confident that the truck was painted in last 25 years. I'm not sure if it's Transport Blue, Horizon Blue, or Windsor Blue.
I have attached a photo of the truck. What's your best guess?

Thanks, Kevin

Look on the underside of the hood. Mine has factory writing that says "transport" written in grease pencil. Maybe there is a good clue on your color also.

What is the code on the ID plate riveted onto the cab's door frame between the hinges? That should ID the year.

The grill on your truck is painted white (all over) like the 1955-1st series grill (image is attached below). The 1954 grills were painted differently. Most likely

Transport Blue was used from 1953 through 1955 first series.

My guess is that it's "Payer's Choice" blue. The person who paid for the paint job selected the color. A good paint supplier can match the color if needed.

Gord's guess is quite reasonable/probable.

Our truck was originally "Transport" blue so we bought a can and started painting. Fran decided that she didn't like the color, so I told asked her to go to the store and get a color she liked. She came back with a Toyota color called "Scandinavian Sky". I wasn't sure about it, but I have had several "I like the color" comments, so WTHDIK.
