I recently bought a 51 6400. Got it running, but there are a few things I need to make her road worthy for around town. Main ones being front passenger side leaf spring shackle assembly. I can find a few different places to buy the smaller shackle, but can't find a 2 ton version. The manual calls for a 2" leaf spring set but I can only find 1 3/4". Is it the same? And is there an easy way to remove the zirc bolt? As you can see from the picture it's sheered off both sides. Not sure how to get it out.
Also rubber brake line hoses. Would like to replace all of them as they look pretty rotted and the passenger side is in two pieces. My guess is the shackle and line are front the same incident. Is there a set available online? They are the original ones and noticed in my digging there are several types of brakes. I'm not there yet. Need to see if she'll stop before I go that far.
hi Waldheri51 i have a similar problem with my 1 ton front springs, there are 2 inch wide leafs i think... maybe... that the rear shackle from the 3/4 Ton might be the same part used for the front shackle on the 1 ton and maybe up to your 2 ton part # 499533
so maybe... check out these parts if they might work for you springs: classic parts - 74-021 $40 each (washers included) LMCtruck - 34-1362 $30 each (plus $6 for washer set 34-1406)
i'm also planning to order one set to see if i can make that work on my front 2 inch wide springs if you find a solution please post it here so we can all know thanks -s
My only concern is the zerk bolt being an 1/8" short on either side and how much real estate the metal will have to sit on. I'd hate to have another one with the same issue. Looks like my local auto parts store may have it in stock. I'll take my parts down there tomorrow and see if I can compare them. I'll report back when I get a chance to complete the mission.
Please be careful with your terminology, Zirk fittings are short, pipe threads(SAE and metric, be careful) on one end and grease nipple on the other end; thread into a shackle bolt and provide lube. A shackle bolt is lubed via a Zirk fitting.
Looks like you need shackle bolts and shackles and appropriate Zirk fittings for your truck.

You’re searching for front spring shackle kit. The broken off shackle pin will press out with its bushing for replacement. The pins thread into the bushing, but don’t worry about that at disassemble, just remove bushing and all. I don’t have part numbers handy but these should be very easy to find, I had no trouble at the time on my 1 and also 2 ton.
Speaking about 1948-53. The front shackle is same as (or similar) for 1 ton through 2 ton. Not same as 1/2 or 3/4 ton because they have narrower springs. Not same as 3/4 ton rear, 3/4 ton through 2 ton do share rear shackles but they don’t fit on the front springs at all. I say similar because some kits have longer and shorter side plates and some have nuts on the ends of the pins while others use only a carriage bolt to hold the side plates on, all functionality interchangeable though. Perhaps different part numbers for different applications.

Hy Guys, my Jim Carter catalogue lists their part number for the front 2" shackle as ME493, the spring bolt and bushings for the 2" spring is ME805, I won't quote prices as my catalogue is too old, hope that helps.
Brake hoses are available at your local auto parts store. Most likely Raybestos BH4497, or NAPA UP4497. You can measure, but these were used for many years from the mid '30's to 1970. Both front and rear are the same.

my mistake, the part number 499533 is only the bushing, and you need the whole shackle
the classicparts and LMCtruck parts i mention above should work, they use the carriage bolt to hold together and are meant to be a replacement for the part number 3847460 that Griggs suggested
the front shackle for the larger older trucks is 2 inches wide it is the same shackle for the smaller trucks REAR spring which is also 2 inches wide, we can follow the part numbers and see it's the same one listed in many books for various locations on different trucks.

From another person I reached out to Sid at DroppedAxles and found that the 55-59 uses a 2" shackle with nuts on either end of the pins instead of the tapered kind with the one retainer bolt in the middle. Seems like an easy upgrade for a safer ride. Here's a picture with complete shackle and pins.
