They FINALLY have a website to browse! I just found it tonight. www.chassisengineeringinc.com I hope this helps some of you folks out...it wasn't previously available on the web. P.S. To quote from Solo, why IS the Pacer frontend so looked down upon? With the use of the professionally built (and economical) Chassis Engineering install kit, this one sounds like a possible winner for those on a tight budget. NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD $500-$600 U.S. (close to $1000 CDN) for a M II crossmember and brackets-and THEN probably $500 MINIMUM to add the remainder of the parts. Don't want to sound snotty, just wondering WHY these units are ignored-is it bad geometry, parts availability, durability? Just looking for a straight answer-not "don't go there-Phat hates Pacers" Thanks for any input. Wannabe

P.S. I'll probably have the C.E. IFS kit before I have a truck to put it on...I figure the "small parts" will be easier to buy a bit at a time, while I'm saving to take the plunge and actually buy the truck.

Read the link above, if it is the one I read before the guy rather liked his conversion. I believe there is some trouble achieving good ride height but the track width is supposed to be acceptable. Plenty of parts at any parts store for them.

Ride height is not a problem-I don't really see a "ground scraper" as everyday-drive it to work-take the occasional load to the dump practical, although they are pretty to look at! My main concern was with durability issues-safety will be #1 priority when the time comes to "turn the virtual wrenches real." besides, the Pacer with all it's stamped steel parts, just looks "factory." Check a few website tech sections etc. I remember reading a full article with lots of words where a guy researched what to do, did the Pacer and lived to tell about it. He was very happy with the results and gave some pros and cons. It sounds nice because it is full bolt in. No welding necessary at all. Though it can be welded in.

Tony, I have read that one already-indeed I have a printed hard copy...somewhere...on this....darn COMPUTER DESK!!! Wannabe  P.S. I think the benefactor of the Pacer swap in that article was a 1951 GMC-owner said 2" drop in front, combined with approx. 2" rear drop mono leafs. Not too low...sounds about right to me.

I plan on using the TCI crossmember with air ride and power rack.
however, I want to put another one of these AD's together with the caddy 472, and a flat bed on the rear that will be used for a work truck. I already have a donor truck for this project that I can get for free. however, considering it is a work truck if I could use a pacer susp. for that lttle money then I would go for it. | | |
