AD Chevy Trucks Over 6,000 pictures Brad Allen has an awesome collection of Chevrolet factory pictures that he has set up from film strips. Check them out!
Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

My 1950 suburban was missing the lighter. I bought a replacement from classic parts and it is just a tube with no mounting bracket. How the heck did the originals mount? I have nothing to reference.

Does the element tube have a tube on the rear-outside of it?
There are a few companies that people call Classic Parts.
What is the URL and part number?
Is this it - see the tube that I referred to? . That tube goes on behind the dash - screw to tighten.

This is mine... I have nothing to screw into. And the housing will not fit through the dash when inserted from the front.

As I poorly described, I guess: There is a "tube" on the outside of your unit. Unscrew the tube towards the rear. Put the inner housing (the element housing) through the hole in the dash. Behind the dash, screw that tube onto the element housing. Connect a hot wire to the terminal on the rear of the unit. Place the element into unit. Hold your breath while it heats, and then pops out.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
A video is worth a lot more. Some instruction sheets show a light/bulb "fixture" on the housing.

To be clear, DO NOT connect your hot wire to the square tab on the outer housing. Your hot connects to the round stud/center post on the inner section. Typically, a bullet type connector works. The female type.

Well, my mind is blown. Had no idea it was in three pieces. Guess I figured my old burb was missing a bracket. Thanks again!
