I would like to replace the transmission fluid and differential fluid in my original 1954 Chevy 3100 3 speed pickup but would like some recommendations on what time of fluid to use.

For the transmission I am planning on using Traveller all mineral SAE 90 Ford tractor transmission fluid. I understand it is Ford but the manual says SAE 90 All mineral fluid and that was all I could find.

I also replaced the U-Joint in the torque tube, not sure if i should fill the ball housing with general purpose gear lube or transmission fluid?

For the rear diff I am planning on using standard 80-90 gear oil.

Thanks for the help in advance.

What would you recommend for the ball housing? Whichever I decide to put in the transmission?

same fluid/oil - that oil is "shared" by/between the transmission and u-joint housing.

Got it, thanks. Just wanted to make sure before I changed all the fluids. I appreciate the help.

The rear end grease needs to be GL-5 qualified.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Yup!

I use Valvoline High Perf 80W-90 gear oil which is GL-5 qualified.
