I picked up a Model 510 radio a while back that requires restoration. The owner said that it was out of the family’s 1952 chev. 1/2 ton pick up I cleaned up the case, and now am ready to send it out to restore the insides. I ordered new push buttons, knobs and front burgundy plastic face cover (?). When I put the face plate over the buttons and face, it does not fit right. The face plate sits way back and not front and prominent like I see others do. The radio is a Canadian model, what am I missing here? Were there different head units or is the plastic burgundy piece incorrect? I have included photos, if more are needed to answer the question, please let me know. I want to confirm that this radio will fit my truck prior to having it restored, and have an original look once installed. Thank you in advance for your help and wisdom.

That radio will fit your 1953. It is a Canadian radio and is made adjustable to fit the truck and several cars. However the bezel that you purchased is for the US model, not the Canadian model. I think there may be a metal bezel that goes on the outside of the dash . hopefully someone who has one installed can respond. ere is a link to the GM manual on the radio.

Thank you Truckernix, Very much appreciated the info and link. I thought the problem was with me or the manufacturer. This is going to make it tougher. If someone has photos of this Canadian version installed in a truck, I would appreciate it. Also, I did get a single chrome knob with the Radio, but not much else. Where would I find the correct metal bezel for this radio? Thanks again, what a great community.

Your radio seems to be missing a heavy steel bezel that goes on the front of the radio. If you look at the GM instructions, you will see it in the first illustration. t There is another illustration that shows a finish plate on the outside of the dash. I would expect this to be similar to what you would find in a 1947 to 48 Oldsmobile. I think I may have the heavy steel plate as I have a number of these radios. However without the finish plate, you might not want to use the radio. The radio itself has an output stage that uses two tubes and thus gives twice the output power of the standard US model.

Thanks again for your time and support with this project. You are right, I’m missing the Heavy steel nezel and attachment screws Also missing the Finish/Trim plate, and one control knob. I found the Dummy, and the tone control knobs, and only one control knob came with the radio, so will need the other one. Photos attached. Would you part with the one of your heavy steel bezels? The trim plate will be a chore to find, but the hunt is what this is all about....... If you have any leads I would appreciate it. Hope you are enjoying your weekend Much appreciated
