So I was fortunate enough to get a solid day of truck stuff in today. I didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted but I did get the wiring harness 90% in Just need the new speedo cable to put the gauge cluster in and then she is DONE. I pulled the old manifolds and exhaust out installed a set of headers, dropped in the HEI distributor, mocked up an alternator bracket, and pulled the seat out and cleaned everything up good so I can install new insulation and floor mats.

My question is about some of the stuff I pulled out. The Brackets for the alternator were the stock ones that bolted to the exhaust manifold and were originally for a generator. Are these valuable to anyone? I'm not trying to sell them here. I mostly want to know if I should offer them up or scrap them. I don't want to get rid of something someone might want if they are restoring a rig, but I also don't want to hold on to junk. I also have the old distributor, coil and the bracket for the coil, factory exhaust manifolds, and like I said the generator brackets. Is any of this worth saving so I can pass it on? I will never use any of it.

I should say it all came off a 409 so it should fit a 348 as well

If you were any thing like me you would keep everything. Now I have 60 years accumulation. "I may need that some day".
Offer them in the swap meet section. I imagine someone wants them.

I would say clean them up and try to sell them, there are always people looking for good replacement parts. Even "scrap" parts like alternator brackets and manifolds would be a perfect find for some other guy.

Find a site similar to Stovebolt for people that have 348 and 409 Chevy cars and market them there, you might get decent money out of them, or at least give them away to a fellow gear head in need

And gents. I wasn't so much asking because I want to sell these parts. I just don't want to throw something away that's getting hard to find. If they are pretty common I won't bat an eye. I just know how frustrating it is when you're looking for that last little piece and no one seems to have one.

And I am aware of most of the rules. I actually have read the op manual a couple times. This post was in no way intended to offer anything for sale. I just honestly didn't know if the leftover parts I have a trash or not.

I know some parts for these old trucks/engines are getting hard to acquire. I simply don't know which ones, that is the purpose of this post.

I’d hang onto them with the idea that one day you (or the next owner) might not like the modifications you made. Having a box of the original parts could be worth more then than the few dollars you’d get now.

I agree with Grigg’s idea. Put everything in a box in the rafters of the shop and pass them along to the next owner when/if you sell the truck.

As a lifetime hoarder my experienced opinion is Never throw anything away. Give away to friends is a good thing however. There's a very small clump of old Mopar folks I used to run with, back in the day and we swapped, traded, and loaned items almost on a weekly basis. Nowadays we still do the same. Luckily I'm not the only hoarder in the group. If we do sell something to someone in our little crowd it's a 1970's price.

Keep everything is my advise.

I have posted and be lucky enough to find a couple parts on this site that most people would have consider junk and was to most people. If you are trying to stay original sometimes that rusty bent piece of scrap metal is gold. I have not thrown anything away I have replaced on my truck. If you don't want to hang on to them you will have no trouble finding someone who will in the for sale or freebies (cover shipping cost) section. You could even do a search in the parts wanted section to see if someone is looking for it.

Anything that fits a W block, if not now, is going to be worth good geld as time goes on. Point is, hoard them for 10 years and sell them then to help fund your next project, or offer them up to needy member's here.
These projects cost money, it is good to get some back so you can spend making yours that little bit better. This reminds me of the corvette swap meet that my buddy and I go to, we used to attend and buy a booth to sell all our left over stuff. I was pretty heavy into it 25 years ago, he still is, anyways we got a booth and of course other vendors get in early to set up like we were, this guy came into the booth and told us he was restoring a driver quality 60 corvette and my buddy sold everything he had for a song and a dance before the event opened. Later that day, we saw all his stuff in this guys booth at 4 times the price.

Alright guys. Thanks I unfortunately don't have a shop or space. I'm actually in between moving and jobs so I don't have a lot of space. That's why I'm not gonna keep it.
