...the Heritage center. Not far from the GM tech center near Warren Michigan. It's not open to the public. I've been wanting to go there since I first heard it was a real place and not just the stuff of Detroit urban legend. Anyway, I got invited to an event there yesterday evening. There's about 160 vehicles on display and another 600 in local storage that get rotated thru. Pretty amazing with rare and one of a kind vehicles including many 00001 serial number cars and quite a few concept cars including the original Mako Shark. (Yeah, I touched it.) Thought you guys would dig the Stovebolts in the current display.

So Cool! Gotta wonder if GM brass could be persuaded to grant Stovebolt Crew members passage? Of course I might have to change my handle
"Group Tours Group tours are available to groups, clubs, or staffs, and require a 30-person minimum. A fee of $10 per person is charged for tours scheduled during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Group tours are scheduled through the GM Heritage Center event coordinator. Guests should allocate about 1.5 hours for their tour."
Looks like they'd let us in. I spent several hours there with a buddy and could have stayed longer.
Meeting their minimum person requirements might prove tough. Maybe reach out to a couple of localized Chevy Clubs to get the needed numbers.

Moparguy, you'd definitely have to change your handle. You should anyway.

Hey Just mark, are you and your family alright after the tornado, I was working on the truck in the barn but was also keeping an eye on the sky that afternoon. Hope your doing well.

Yeah, tornado missed us by a mile. Lol. Thanks for asking!
Ron, there was a pretty good mix. Looks like quite a few were bought back and restored. Several, including the first C5 and first C6 vettes, first Vega, and the first front wheel drive GM car, a toronado were plucked from the assembly line. I spent an hour or so talking with a guy that worked there. Very knowledgeable.
There were also 6 or 7 Cadillac concept cars. Very cool.
Thanks for posting these images. There has been a lot of discussion over the years about Mariner blue, specifically if there was a difference between the 1947-1952 hue and the post 1952 color as the paint codes differ. If GM Heritage says this is the correct Mariner Blue for 1948,(image 82723) the question is settled for me.
The VCCA had the Heritage Centre as a tour stop during their 50th Anniversary meet in 2011. What a fantastic collection!! I'd go back again in a second!
