Not a 59', but I have a 58' longbed/stepside with a 235 I6 and a 3sp OD trans. Got a 1954 Corvette exhaust I'm going to put on it and I may put the Corvette intake on it aswell. Going to have to mod some things to do that though.
Sounds good fellows. My truck has a Camaro front clip massaged into the original frame. Out back is a Camaro rear. This mod has moved the COG down...its like driving an oversized go cart.
59 Apache 3100 step side; 383 stroker 440hp, 700R4, Camaro rear pos., PS. Complete all new bed and wood. All other metal original! Harley Davidson Mystic green! Nice truck Apache 1!! Love dual headlights!
Yes original frame looks a lot better. Mystic Green is a Harley Davidson color 1995 96 ElectroGlyde a special color. Sitting in the sun as you walk around; it changes from d green to black. to dark blue! Not bragging please people who have seen the color plus finished bed just go nuts! I will get pictures posted when I can get the school teacher to help! Sunday is church, dinner out and she does lesson work! Not into bagged, dropped, but, all original height. My thing not everybodies!
I've got 3 that will be made into one, mostly stock. It will be a swb fleetside with all the trim, big back window, 283 engine. Still undecided on the transmission. I have a 3 sp overdrive, 5 sp S-10 and an A833 to choose from. I have all the parts but no time to work on it right now. 59 is my favorite year for chevy / GMC trucks. If I live long enough, I also want to take the extra bed and make a matching trailer.

That's great you have that kind of inventory to work from. Are all (3) SWB? I prefer the smaller rear window cab...like the privacy and less direct light. IMHO. Stock height or new front clip?
Yes, all 3 are swb, only one has the big back glass. I also plan to have AC to keep the back of my neck from roasting too much. I'll stay at stock height even if I decide to do something about the front suspension. I've collected these over the last 10 yrs or so and have very little money in them. Lucky breaks don't come my way very often but a few years ago a local "kid" ran an ad on CL for some fleet side bed sides for cheap. They were in perfect condition so I jumped on them. He had an entire disassembled truck piled up in his garage. He said he got it at an estate sale and he wanted a step side bed so he was selling the bedsides. I noticed that they had the holes for stainless trim so I asked if he had it and he said no. When I went back with my pickup to get the bedsides he told me he had found the trim and he threw it in for a few bucks. He really didn't know what he was doing. I told him that if he decided to get rid of the rest of it I'd be interested in the big window cab. He told me that for $600 I could have it all; he had already lost interest in it. Back home I went to get my trailer.

Man, now that is a Stovebolt story if I've ever heard one. That trim alone is 6 bills plus. You fell right in it...LOL. I've never been that lucky. Btw, what is the A-833 out of?
MY first stovebolt was a 59 Suburban. We sold that a few years back and now I"m driving a 58 6400. My daughter has the front end of a 58 6400 hanging on her bedroom wall.
The A833 is out of a mid 80's chevy van. I know it came out of a van because the shifter is too far forward for a truck. I'll have to modify it to make it work.

Great looking GMC version. Corky Coker Tire along with the Honest Charlie Speed Shop in Chattanooga, TN is practically in my backyard. Corky owns the speed shop next door as well. Over the years he has amassed a superb collection of antique cars and motorcycles along other historical memorabilia in a museum open to the public in the old downtown historical district... its a must see if anyone is passing through this part of the country.
This is my only one and I have worked on and off on it for over 25 years. I drive it some now and it runs quite well. Mostly stock with original drive line with 4 speed and 235.
Porsche, You got yourself one nice looking truck! I’m trying to clear my schedule of odd jobs so I can paint my ‘57 3200. I’m tossing around a really dark burnt orange or Kodiak Brown with everything else shiny black. Your original white on blue causes me some reconsideration though.

Thanks, I have been enjoying driving it of late. Seems to be somewhat of a relaxing thing to take a drive in for supplies. Paint your truck how you would like it.
