Hello, all. I recently acquired a 1955.1 Chevy 5 window 3100 pickup. I was looking for an older fat fender truck and this appeared to fit the bill. The idea was to get something I could enjoy, while I worked on it. The guy told me it's was the most reliable truck he had ever owned. Well after one trip through the neighborhood, I pulled into the driveway and shut her down. The next day I was going to go a little further. This is just how I get to know her and get a feel for her. Well, she wouldn't start. Now I'm ticked. I'm thinking this guy lied to me, about it being the most reliable truck he has ever owned. Once I had time to cool down and I though about it, maybe he wasn't lying. He just owned some very unreliable trucks. She is broken, but she is a 55, 5 window, so I will work through it.
BigHog, welcome to the Stovebolt. You have joined a great group of guys and gals to help you make it YOUR most dependable ride! All of us probably have a similar tale so don't feel bad.......as you say, you'll work through it and we will help. Just be sure to ask questions in the garage forums and we'll do the rest. I been here 20 years and this site never fails to come through......and your in VA. where there are many bolters so watch for them. I know a bunch of them and they are always more than willing to help......and the Stovebolt Homecoming is in Lexington Va. this year so you may want to attend and meet a bunch of them. I could certainly use the help. Im back by Curtis lake on the border of Stafford and Fredericksburg. If you are familiar with the area, off 17 a little past Geico, take a right down Poplar Rd.
A picture of my girl. She don't look bad in pictures, but she is ugly. I believe an enamel paint job gone bad. She is pealing paint. But on the up side, she is all mine.
Several years ago, I was in the same boat as you; Not sure I could trust my truck to get me past the county line. Rest assured, the folks who got me over the hump (SWEET, chief among them) will get you over the same.
This site is all about helping people like you and me get and keep these glorious trucks on the road. The site doesn't allowing flaming or shaming or even foul language, because we're all about family. What's more family than the trucks we pass down? I hope to meet you soon, along with SWEET, as I live close to you. Get ready for a great ride!
