I don't know the official term but I am trying to figure out out how to install/orientation of the rubber strip that fits up against the door glass to keep rain out. I have the old one out and new one ready but unsure how to install since the flap part is angled. I reviewed tech tips and Alan Horvahs and others but no help. If someone can email me a pic/reply to post/send me a PM of what it is suppose to look like after install or any install help I would appreciate it. (54 Chevy pickup). Email djed50@yahoo.com

The thick part goes into the groove. Clean the groove as clean as you can. A folded piece of 180 grit or finer works well. Blow the debris out and spray some light lube in the channel. I use Rem Oil because I have it around for lubing guns.
Somewhere near the middle of the channel, there is an opening for allowing you to start one end and go to the right, then insert the other end to go to the left. Prior to beginning, use a screw driver to bend the metal at this opening to make insertion easier, then mash the metal back into place when you are done.

Ok...thanks..it appears my thick part is a little longer on one side which when installed it looks like the flat thin part could end up facing up or down... That is where I am confused...will give it a better look and try using your info...thanks for your reply!👍🏻

I've been working on this sweep also. Turns out I ordered sweeps from 2 different suppliers, not knowing I all ready had a set tucked away. I was surprised to discover both are different configurations/shapes.
One is T-shaped and the other one is a J-shape.
Now I'm trying to figure out which is correct for a '48 3100.
Thanks
Jeff

Where did you get the J shape one? On my last truck I had extreme difficulty installing the T shape. Looks like the J would fit better.

miracle

The J shaped sweep came from LMC and I'd have to agree with you. Been fighting with the t-shaped one on and off for a few days.

I attempted to insert/slide the T-Shaped wiper into a properly cleaned and lubed channel with no luck at all! The J-Shaped wiper slid right in and secured it in a few places with a dab of weatherstrip adhesive.

I just put mine in 2 weeks ago. Dawn dish soap and water helped. I slipped one side in first and then used a small Phillips to push other side in. Went in easy without problems!

I had difficulty putting the T shaped one on my '47. I used a thin lubricant and a plastic weather strip stick to push it in. It took a while but it worked. Videos show the rubber just sliding in but mine was quite hard to get in.

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.
