Well, There doesn't seem to be much interest in shirts.
We got the Reunion shirts for less than 15 bucks a piece.
Got that price when we ordered 24 or more. The less we order the higher the price.
That was with a pocket, big print on back and a small one on pocket, all one color.
We got them thru Mongo's Sister in law.


So gents, we need more to commit before this can happen.

I like wearing my shirts just about everywhere I go but the LIGHT COLOR ones sure look pretty rough with grease stains all pronounced on it. How about a little darker color. The White's, the light orange, light grey just don't "hide stuff". Lets try something a little darker this time.....with pockets.

(Heck, i'd even buy a couple of different colors. The shirts don't care what colors go on them. I'm sure we can find color that looks good on a couple of different shirts!)...........or at least thats what 37 years in the printing business tells me!

I thought you were originally asking for someone to step up and organize shirt design, orders, manufacturing, sales, and delivery.
If you were instead volunteering for the above then first a big thanks! Secondly yes, I would be interested in a shirt.

I also prefer a non flashy color and not white or light colored for grease reasons, or black for heat reasons.

OK, I guess I'll step up to the plate. And that also means I'll be attending the Homecoming for the 4th time.
Hot Dog! It's also about 200 miles closer this year and all interstate except for about 15 miles of two lane.

I'll contact Shelly and get the current shirt rates. Shipping will have to be included also. We get free shipping at the Reunion.
We will also need to decide on the design and color shirt
Pocket is a Must have!
An order of 24+ is the goal for the cheaper price.

I'm thinking John should be the one to take action on the design and color!

Um, I see a bunch of artwork with copyright issues. Unless you can show that the artwork above is original material or you have permission from General Motors to use it, it's not likely to be accepted by any reputable printer.

The artwork in both the stovebolt logo (at top left of this page and other versions of it) and previous event t-shirts, is original artwork, completely done in house (by me, BTW ) and I can make it, or it's various elements, available to anyone seeking to design a t-shirt.

A couple of thoughts....

1. Don't use copyrighted material or other peoples' artwork w/o permission. Sure, others have done so but GM has way deeper pockets than I do when it comes to hiring litigation attorneys and I would prefer that you not make that gamble with *my* assets. I've heard from GM in the past and do not wish to do so again.
2. Be more generic in truck depictions for the event. People with trucks other than the one depicted sometimes feel excluded
3. The t-shirt design in the past has tried to incorporate some element of the hosting site in the design (or something else pertinent) hence the 1-ton AD truck and/or christmas trees in the past. motifs that come to mind -- classrooms, timber framing, mountains ...
4. Design has to be simple and as few colors as possible to keep printing costs down
5. IF the final design includes *my* artwork or web site logo, please extend the courtesy of allowing me to review it before it goes to production.

If you all want *me* to do it, then fine. I'll be happy to.

I've sent an email to Shelley requesting current pricing on pocket-T's, one color printing, big on back and a small logo on pocket.
I'll post the prices when I get them.

If someone knows another place to get them made up, let us know.
I expect we can get them done for a little under 15 bucks apiece.
A little price comparison will not hurt. I just know Shelley has always done a great job.

We have a long relationship with a local screen printer, when a design is done I can check prices.

Thanks. Before I proceed too far with the design, can you check with them on a couple of things (every printer I've ever worked with has different preferences ....establishing new relationships with printers can be tedious sometimes...):

1. Preferred format for imagery (i.e., will .jpg suffice or would they prefer a vector-based like .svg or something like that? I will working the raw files in .psd, so if they'd like *that* I can certainly oblige. While you're on that subject, you might as well let them know that I am an advanced professional Photoshop user -- currently using Creative Suite 2018 and will be upgrading to 2019 when available -- not a dilettante doing crap in PowerPoint

2. Optimal number of colors to work in to keep costs down. If we go full color (say for that photo, what does that do for our costs? Usually 2 or 3 color allows for a decent design with reasonable cost.

As I see it John is going to think about artwork.
I simply asked local printing prices and reported back (by email).
Previously you said:

If T-shirts are going to be a thing then someone needs to handle them.
I won't have time for them and wouldn't expect John to either.

In the meantime we ought to hold off "placing orders" in this thread and wait for someone to formally ask for orders and be ready to receive and record them.

So that place is out of the running for our business.

1 color 100% cotton with pocket and printing on pocket, about $11 or so in Lexington for 3 dozen, slight savings with larger orders.

A few have politely asked for a more somber tone of color and I too think that is a fine idea. Oatmeal brown and grey come to mind. I am certain John's design is going to be out-of-the-park. I'd like one XL.

Looks like Grigg has found a good source for shirts.
I vote to charge 15 bucks a piece and any surplus of money, goes into the Stovebolt fund.
Now we just need 36 + orders of shirts.

And that is within our grasp!
The ordering thread will be starting when our designer, (John) decides on the color of the shirt and what will be printed on them.
I'll keep track of the orders, provide up front financing and distribution at the Homecoming.
Don't forget to order one for your spouse, kids or grandkids.

I'll probably get two for myself.

All this enthusiasm is great but please stand by -- I'm not ready to show anyone a design just yet (haven't even begun yet ...) and we're not ready to begin taking orders. Your continued patience is appreciated. We'll show you a design when its ready to be seen and we'll let you know when orders can be made.

Probably best to assume anything said above in this post will not be remembered, so bear with us and input your orders when the time comes.

Just be advised -- I will do the design, but I am not able to handle the orders and coordinating with the production. And neither is Grigg. If there is a volunteer for that, please contact Grigg AND I via PM. I will wait until we have a volunteer for that to begin work on a design (i.e., no volunteer, no shirts).

Also be advised that the cost of production will have to be recouped by the per person price of the shirts. With a server replacement looming (plus HQ moving expenses), Stovebolt.com does not have a surfeit of funding available to splurge on t-shirt buys.
