Working on gathering parts for my interior. Will be reupholstering the seats, door panels, sun visors, and the headliner. for a 1949 3800 truck, what would the factory colors for the previously listed parts be....and which vendor would sell the most accurate materials.

It may give you ideas that will save you money and look better then the cardboard headliner and door panels. Personally, I used black but you can do whatever you prefer.

I read through your post a while back. I plan to do something similar and stay away from the cardboard. I guess I'm just more interested in what color option would have been stock. I know my work truck wouldn't have been a deluxe package. The maroon upholstery is appealing since the exterior color will ultimately be cape maroon. Looking for what color a stock truck would have come with from the factory.

Here are Advance-Design (1947 through 1955-first-series) trucks' colors.

Exterior and Interior colors are listed. Upholstery color/colors are not listed.

So the vendors sell two seat kits for the 1949 trucks. Spanish grain brown and spanish grain maroon. They also sell coordinating door panels for each of those colors. I am planning to not use the cardboard door panels as they appear to be prone to disintegrate rather quickly in high moisture conditions (we have very high humidity typically) but assume the door panel covering matches the seat material.

What about visors and headliners. For the same reason as the doors, I want to use something other than cardboard for the headliner. I may have to buy it to build a pattern from, but they aren't terribly expensive. Just curious what they were covered with? Conventional wisdom in current trucks would have been the same as the seat material, but I am finding that this is not the case. Ultimately I will go either brown or maroon (truck will be painted cape maroon, but not certain that I will select maroon seats as they may not coordinate properly). I've gleaned that Jim Carters sells the most accurate seat cover kit, but I plan to do a little upgrade on the seat stuffing.

As a follow up question to the conversation....my internal plan for building the seats is as has been mentioned before, a low-pile piece of carpet for longevity and spreading the pressure around, then I was thinking of some high density foam, then batting over the top and sides to round it out. Anything I'm missing? Any thoughts that I am on the wrong track? Any idea what thickness of foam I need? 1", 2", 3". Again, will be using a pre-sewn seat kit.

That certainly sounds better than the original, and, it should be much better than the kit from JC.

What you describe is very similar to what my upholsterer re-did on all my Suburban seats. They are now relatively firm AND comfortable to sit on (relatively speaking).

One option on the headliner and door panels is a guy operating as White Wolf Speed Shop on Facebook, who makes ABS plastic headliner, half door panel, full door panel, and kick panel kits. The material won't disintegrate like the cardboard will. It comes in black, but I assume it can be painted with an appropriate type paint, or covered with a thin material. I have not dealt with him, but have seen plenty of interaction and positive feedback on the Facebook AD truck groups. I plan to buy a headliner and stock-size door panels in the future.

There will definitely be a ride report, but fair warning, it could be up to a year before this all gets together to go down the road. Keep getting roadblocks put up on other parts of the project. The plan has been to have it back on the road by it's 70th birthday, which would be in December, so we shall see. Not looking too hopeful unless I win the lottery and can quit working!!

If I remember correctly, I found a fiberglass / plastic headliner for my 39 chevy pickup. It was easy to install (other than the extra hole I drilled in the middle of it).
