My generator gave out and I decided to go to an alternator. I used the original bracket by adding a long bolt and spacer. It really wines and I'm sure the bracket is bent from a previous owner/modification. I see the new conversion brackets cost about $70, uh no. I saw some alternator brackets for post 235 6 cyl , 292 etc. that are a lot cheaper. Does anyone know if the bolt holes will line up to the 235/261? Thanks.

I purchased 2 separate ones. Neither allowed for enough movement of the alternator forward to align the pulleys. I finally used a torch to lengthen the holes, and shim the bracket to reduce the little bit of play. The upper bracket required me to use a couple of washers to get the correct alignment. I am not sure which one I ended up using in the end.

If the pulleys line up and are on the same plane, does not matter how bent the bracket is. The whine is either normal....or bad bearing, bent pulley on alternator or other rotating component. A squeal is the belt.
There are two dozen ways to make an alternator bracket out of another bracket or some metal.
This is your guy. All kinds of brackets for every year. May be a member. At least you can see how it's done.
Donor parts from 230/250 may work.
