I started work on my '49 GMC 100 last summer and when I broke down the driveline, it was covered in decades of waxy grease. I'm pretty sure the tranny is a Muncie sm420, but the bell housing has a blue"x" painted over the top. It's also painted "avocado" green (same color as the engine block.) It was under years of grease so I assume it's been there since new. The tranny has white spray paint in several locations. Not that it's a big deal, I was just curious if I should reproduce them. Also the date code on the side of the tranny is B99. I'm assuming Feb. 3 1949? I have no idea what the "CON 5" means. Thanks
