I picked up a fram oil filter canister off a 1948 216 2 ton truck. Will it be able to adapt to my 1955 235 engine? Any leads on proper oil lines for sale?

If you are not worried about your truck appearing to be as it came from the dealer (all filters were dealer upsells, not installed at the assembly line), I recommend using the new copper/nickle brake/fuel lines instead of rubber lines. The copper/nickle hard lines are easy to form with your hands. You will need four NPT-to-female inverted flare adapters.
I don't like the rubber lines. If you spring a leak, you will be completely out of oil before you know it, and that never ends well.

I've done what Carl suggested with steel/copper lines in the past. While doing so, I also did it with a circle/loop to compensate for any vibrations.

I like the steel lines. I used them for my entire fuel system.

Anyone have a pic of where they attach to the motor? I really have no idea.

Windy, did you do a Stovebolt search. This subject has been discussed hundreds of times and photos or links to photos are easily found. Use the search engine in the line just above this thread.🛠

Topic: Oil canister 216 to 235 swap

"all filters were dealer upsells, not installed at the assembly line"
That is/was not the case for oil filters.
http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/chevyresto/49100.htm

RPO-237 Oil Filter (RPOs were factory installed - Regular Production Options).
Chevrolet Truck GM-accessory oil filters came with "rubber"/flexible lines" (dealer, shop, or owner/neighbor installed).

I have never had a problem with original-style Chevrolet truck oil filter "rubber"/flexible lines" (proper length; and, proper location of filter unit).

I use metal lines on the fuel system, with one flex segment as original (usually near the fuel tank).

The answer to your original question, yes they use the same one. The dealer installed filters are AC. Most aftermarket filters are Fram. Either are fine. Classic parts has a good hose kit with choice of several fittings.

Funny you mention that......

I was looking at classic parts today. Would I buy the hose kit for the 216 or 235.... or are they both the same?

****update*** they sell a hose kit that fits both.

Thank you for the correction, Tim.
The ole RPO did me in.
Carl.
