This carb is driving me crazy.
Installing the fuel line is a PITA. The line doesn't meet at the correct angel. The only way to put it all together is to install the line then put the carb on and hold it in place as the line starts to pull the carb off the mounting points on the intake. Once I get it together it leaks. I just got the carb back from the shop. They rebuilt it. Is the inlet missing a gasket? They ran it on an engine and tuned it and confirmed no leaks. Is the leak coming from the coupling? Ahhhhh

Buy, borrow, or steal a tubing bender. There's no law that says you have to run the same fuel line that's on there now. A piece of bulk fuel line and less than an hour's work will accomplish a lot.

You need a gasket behind that hex fitting; your local hardware store should have fiber shims that will work. The fuel line itself looks like an inverted flare; no gasket necessary there, but sometimes ya gotta really reef those down to make them seat - unless the flare is distorted :-(

Which fitting is leaking? The one going into the carb or the line fitting? Is there a gasket behind the one going into the carb? Does the fuel line have a flared end or a compression fitting? Cross threaded?

It is a flared end. It could be cross threaded, the angle that I have to work with is just off a hair, which makes it pretty difficult to get it started. I'm just surprised that it is missing a gasket. If you look close it has a metal one that is visible, I'm not sure if there needs to be an additional gasket. I guess I'll replace the line with a part I found on LMC truck and see if it fixes it.

I'm confused, why can't you just tweak the line a little with your hands? Mine takes a little fiddling, but steel fuel lines aren't hard to bend or tweak. There is no gasket at the carb end. The flare end seats on the carb. Use a very fine sandpaper or steel wool to clean both surfaces, it may help.

I just don't think that the line was made correctly. A lot of jimmy rigging that I'm trying to undo.

To find out what is causing the problem I'd use the KISS method. Cut a gap in the line that is apparently no good anyway, use short piece of rubber fuel hose and clamps, and then try line that now has zero stress on it. If it leaks it's the fitting; if it doesn't it's the stressed line causing the problem.

It looks to be leaking at the adapter, not the inverted flare. The metal gasket normally has a coating to seal between the carb casting and the adapter. I would take it apart and inspect for any nicks or cracks in the carb casting. These are NOT pipe threads and rely on the gasket to seal the fitting. I agree with coilover, add a piece of rubber fuel hose in the line to reduce the tension on the fitting at least until you fab a new line. The inverted flare also does not rely on the threads to make the seal, it's the flare face and seat that seal the joint.

Matt,
Can you supply a pic of exactly where it is leaking?
