Everything seems great slowing down, but just before I finally stop it's as if i applied more force. They also seem to take a bit of movement starting again to release. Yet all seems good under way.
1952 3 ton with hydrovac. New master and hydrovac, good friction surfaces.

But do as 3B suggests and check for oil or grease on the shoes.

Grind or sand a bevel on the edge of the linings. Often the sharp edge on the linings grabs the drum. I had this happen just recently on my daily driver GMC Sonoma. Sanding a bevel on the edge of the linings on the rear wheel that was grabbing cured it.

If it's not able to depressurize after a stop, there will be just enough residual pressure to keep the hydrovac applied. We fixed a brake-locking problem on John's pumper fire truck that way at Homecoming one year.
