Shopping for rubber brake hose for my 1938 1.5 ton and only finding parts listed for smaller trucks.
I must have one peeling on inside as it pressures up and holds until I open bleeder. Where do I find big bolt brake parts, or will small truck hoses work? Thanks for any help!

Tony,

I am not certain about your particular model, but fortunately Chevrolet used a very generic brake hose that was used on a myriad of other vehicles. I believe a Wagner F-4497 or Raybestos BH-4497 will fit your truck. All three hoses are the same part number. Same hoses as on my 1941 1 1/2 ton truck.

The parts book I have shows that all Chevrolet vehicles used the same brake hose from 1936-1948 (The parts book is a 1948...). Paul is correct with the part numbers, they are readily available and have been used as recently as 1970 on new vehicles.

Paul and neon,
After your helpful post I got a brake hose from my local parts store for $13.00.
I disassembled the brake assembly, honed the cylinder, cleaned everything, packed bearings, adjusted shoe-to-drum and the brakes work wonderfully!
I have pictures of my 1938 1.5 ton on "big bolts" for everyone to see. Stovebolt.com is a great find! Lot of helpful enthusiasts here and I am enjoying this whole experience very much. A big thank you to all members.
Paul and Neonman...you guys rock! Thanks for fast help!
