Hello,

I hope you can help me find a supplier for rear spring shackle pins and bushes (x6) for my 1958 Chevy Viking 4400 2 tonne.

They are the clevis type with plain pin .874-.875 pin diameter and 4.31 wide.

Bushes have .876 inside diameter to fit the 2.5 spring width.

I can only find the smaller 3/4 tonne springs and bushes advertised.

I am in Australia, if you can recommend a place that posts too it would be greatly appreciated.

Have just had the front spring bushes custom made from leaded bronze and it cost a fortune.

I look forward to posting some pics of her as she is getting closer to hitting the road.

Sure do love all the information on the Stovebolt forum.

Cheers

Mathew

Rockauto has some listed. They should be pretty common because I think that Chevy used those on quite a few different trucks. I'm not as familiar with TF trucks, but the AD trucks used the same spring pins and bushings for 3/4 ton all the way through 2 ton just with different springs.

Hello,

Thank you for your insight.
It is amazing how 1 piece of insight can start a whole new course for parts identification and purchase.
Rockauto is amazing but i am still finding it hard to identify if their parts are the 4.31 long pins and correct .875 diameter.
They are showing the smaller series 3/4 tonne which have details for identification, but pins and bushes for big bolts are lacking.

I will continue to try and identify which are correct and share here once sorted.

ANy further help i identification for purchase will be appreciated.

regards

Mathew

Hy 1958Viking, the o.e.m. p/n for the spring pins is 3656669, I crossed that number at Napa's website and came up with a kit with a pin, bushing and lock bolt, lock washer and nut $25.99 U.S.D, Napa p/n NCP2748126, hope that helps.

Hey Matthew, welcome to the site! Over here, a 4400 is a 1 1/2 ton. Once you get into the 60 series, it is a 2-ton. They are probably the same part though.

Hello,

I just pulled apart the rear springs, knocking out the old pins and bushes of my 58 viking one and a half tonne today

All of the pins were the clevis type 4.31 long and .875 diameter.

The bushes were a little different, at the top of the rear shackle there seem to be a two piece bush that was about 1.2 inches either side.

The bottom of the rear shackle bush that was in spring was the same as the front of rear spring shackle in the spring ( these both had splits in them for easy insert?)

My question is , have you guys used the Napa p/n NCP2748126 pin and bush on all 3 pins either side or have you inserted the 2 piece design in the top of rear shackle?

Many thanks

Mathew

I don't know on the task force trucks, but I'm positive that the 3/4 ton through 2 ton advance design chevy's used the same pins for the rear.

Chevrolet used that same Pin p/n 3656669 on various 3/4 to 2 ton trucks from 1941 thru 1962.

The pins have been found 45G16009 ACdelco are same as Chevrolet 3656669 I believe, thanks for the lead to rock auto.

The bushes are seeming somewhat more difficult to identify.

They seem to show there are only 2 inches wide, Do you guys use the the 2 inch wide bush for 2 1/2 inch springs or am i missing something?

Jim carter is showing shackles and spring pin and bush kits but they ship to USA and Canada only.

Upper shackle has 2 bushes in my old one, any more leads would be appreciated.

That said, welded up some firewall modifications and repairs today on the Viking, sure makes me appreciate the skills of metalwork fabricators and craftsmen!

They made springs, complete with bushings, for my 2 ton. I bet they have or can source bushings for you.

Just an update for others that may be looking for bushes for 2.5 wide springs.

Found them at Stengel bros LHE 1 1/8 O.D. (A) x 7/8 I.D. (B) x 2.5 Length (C) Brass Bushing

General spring of Kansas city had the rear spring shackles

Rock auto were the source for 7/8 spring bolt and lock pins AC delco 45G16041 and AC delco 45G16009

Will let you know how fit up goes once they arrive.

Thanks for all the help and direction in finding correct parts smile
