Full tank fresh gas.Pump working well shoots out lots gas. Filter clean.Low voltage wire was loose coil to base of dist. Didn't fix prob. Gages are still on when dies. Idles forever perfect.Pulls strong going up hill. Seems to back fire more when decelerate down hill thru exhaust. Seems to run rich, tailpipe very black. After dies will re- start pretty quickly.Seems to die when hot or or just warmed up...
Any suggestions would appreciate! Don't have a dwell/meter. So maybe a loose ground. Now that i think about it it would not start when hot had to wait until cooled down.

It's being flexed constantly as the vacuum advance moves and it can break under the insulation and create a momentary open circuit. As soon as the distributor stops moving the circuit comes back together and you can re-start. I like to use a piece of very flexible test lead wire there.

If the gas level in the float bowl was very low, and ran over to one side in a turn, could stall the engine briefly. I had this happening in a right turn only, and if you had the clutch disengaged at the time , it would die. A new carburetor since then and it’s fine now. Not saying that’s what you have, but it kinda sounds like fuel rather that electrical. I’ve had some bad luck with replacement carbs on these old Chevs, or , excuse me, stovebolts!

Threaded hole in head goes all way thru. Put gasket sealer on bolt.After cleaning with carb cleaner. Rain today no test drive. Thanks from Dennis Coil top is pointed down, oil would collect in primary boot

Have a new after market carb from Daytona. Will use if can't fix.
