I am trying to put the leaf springs back onto the frame. I cannot find the photos I took when I removed them, so I have a few questions.
Rear Leaf Springs: (1) The rear mount - which side does the spacer go on - frame side or outside? (2) There are three leaf spring clamps on each stack - 2 on one end, one on the other. Which way is to the rear of the frame? (3) Are there any spacers or neoprene bushings that go beside the front loop of the rear springs in the mount? (4) Are there any neoprene bushings on the rear loop?
These are stock 3600 springs.
Photos would be helpful, but any info would be appreciated!
hi Dachshund what i think i know (could be mistaken) 1. spacer goes outside away from frame 2. the extra spring clamp goes to the rear of the truck 3. non of my trucks has any kind of rubber or plastic spacers, it's all big metal parts only, nor do any of my documents show any types of rubber or plastic spacers of any kind 4. same as 3 above, only big metal parts, nothing rubber or plastic in the whole assembly
OK, Thanks! Another question - Does the front mount (rear springs) have any kind of a spacer of clevis? I have a 1/2 gap between the spring loop, and the mount (sideways...).
hi Dachshund, i think the front needs the same big round spacer as the back lower shackle takes i fixed my springs just this summer, but i forgot this detail already however looking at the parts manual, it shows you need 4 spacers for a truck, so that would be 2 per side, one at both ends of the leaf spring. that's my reasoning the spacer is part number 596857, the 3/4 ton and 1 ton use the same part in these locations -s
Yep, the 3600 and 3800 trucks used the same spring hangers as the 1.5 and 2 tons. The hangers were wide enough to take the 2.5" wide big bolt springs. That's why the 3600's and 3800's had those spacers.
