Any idea what it should be?? Know OD is supposed to kick in around 28mph in 2nd. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,923 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,923 | | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,832 | Actually the OD will kick in at 28 mph in ANY forward gear. This is the speed at which the governor activates and sends current to the solenoid. The solenoid will stay engaged till speed is less than 28 mph so if 2nd gear high rpms bother you just shift into high gear before engaging the OD. Once in OD you can shift back down into 2nd gear and still be in OD if you have a need for 2nd over. With 3.90 rear the final drive in OD will be 2.73---a great road gear.

I'm assuming you're talking about a Borg-warner OD on a 3 speed? If you run fast enough in 2nd. to let the OD engage, you'll have to use the kickdown to get back into 3rd. gear direct drive after you shift. I can't imagine a need to use OD in second gear in the first place. Jerry
