For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 21 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 21 | A guy told me I could use bed liner paint underneath my cab and underside of my fenders. (55 chevy truck) He said it would help reduce the noise and also help keep rocks from denting the fenders from the underside. The cab and frame are blasted and primed so I figure I could scuff up the primer and spray the liner paint. Question is, does anyone make a good spray bomb of bed liner, are quarts available? What manufaturere makes a user friendly version? Thanks for the help

I read a thread back last year about this time where the folks discussed using the bedlinder stuff as compaired to the undercoating.
A wise man said that the bedliner stuff held dirt and I think he was right. I had a S-10 with a sprayed in liner and it was a pain to keep clean. Of course it could have been the type of liner. I am pretty sure mine was a rino. I remember some one saying that water can get trapped behind that stuff as well. I can't find that thread now..
At any rate, you may have already made you mind up. Here is the Thread if your intrested..

It doesn't hold water as stated previously. What it does do is: -Prevents stars in the paint from thrown rocks from the tires. -Prevents rust under the vehicle. -deadens sound from the single layer of metal of the fenders.
It can also be painted to match the vehicle finish. But who would want to do that. I looks good black.

No better smell than that of fresh paint. I've been building and painting cars/trucks for 47 years. My jobber has the kits for $189.00. The professional that does it for me charges $200.00 and he does all the work.

I vote do it and get it done by a place that gives a lifetime guarantee. A couple years ago I had my running boards sprayed by Bulldog coatings which is essentially the same thing as Line-X and it has held up and looked great. This summer I went back and had all my fenders done on the inside as I want peace of mind if I need to drive on gravel. The fenders nearly doubled in weight, sound rock solid when tapped, and are much stiffer. Now that it’s back together the reduction in road noise is far more than cab insulating gained. Three coats was .075” thick and needed a hacksaw to clean it away from the headlight holes. The headlamp bucket screws have their own “pockets” now and won’t even be exposed inside the fender! This extra step prevented me from getting paint sprayed this year but the $100.00 for each fender was money well spent.

I had planned on some kind of zero Rust on all the undercarriage but this looks like a better deal. I will probably wait until I'm able to drive it to have this done.
